Richmond Park Cyclists give thanks to two cyclists who helped a man after he collapsed in Richmond Park at the weekend.

The incident happened on Sunday, 1 February when Richmond Park Cyclists subscriber Kush Gor stopped after seeing a walker suddenly stagger and fall face-first to the ground near the ballet school.

Mr Gor said he immediately called 999 and began performing chest compressions while a passing runner helped to look for a defibrillator.

"Eventually a pair of cyclists did just that, retrieving one I believe from one of the cafés," he said.

"After applying the defibrillator it analysed his heart rhythm and the gentleman did indeed require a shock, which once delivered seemed to revive him somewhat."

Several runners then continued chest compressions until paramedics arrived. Mr Gor said the ambulance crew delivered a further shock before taking over the man's care.

"There was a moment whilst doing compressions, when the ambulance had not yet arrived and there was no defibrillator, where it looked like this man was dying beneath me," he said.

"I do not know if he has survived but the paramedics said that we probably saved his life."

The man, who was able to say his name was "Mike" before becoming unresponsive, was taken away by ambulance. His current condition is not known.

Richmond Park Cyclists has praised Mr Gor for his "quick thinking" and thanked the two cyclists for going out of their way to help, adding that it hopes Mike makes a full recovery.

Replying to the cycling group's post appealing to find identify the two riders who helped, a user who goes by @thetmr_ replied: "Hey guys - @mattdoman and I were happy to have done anything to have helped, and hope to hear that Mike is OK.

"Thanks for the shoutout, but we were only doing what we hoped any good human would do for us."

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 8.36am on Sunday 1 February to reports of a person unwell in Richmond Park, TW10.

"We sent resources including ambulance crews, a clinical team manager, an advanced paramedic practitioner and London's air ambulance.

"We treated a man before taking him to hospital."
