Teddington and the entire Richmond borough is set to be the Coronation party capital of the country this Bank Holiday weekend with almost 200 street parties.

At the same time, there will be Beefeaters, bunting, flags, set-piece events, free access to royal palaces, shops are dressing their window, while pubs and restaurants will have their own big screen gatherings and themed menus.

Teddington's beloved riverside restaurant will be televising the Coronation of King Charles III and encourages visitors to come and enjoy the celebrations from early. A delicious afternoon tea will also be on offer accompanied by a complimentary cocktail!

Street parties

Richmond borough will be hosting 196 street parties over the Bank Holiday.

Richmond Council encouraged residents to take part in the festivities by waiving the administration fee for street party road closures.

Council Leader, Cllr Gareth Roberts, said: "Last year over 300 residential streets celebrated the late Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee, bringing together neighbours, family and friends. Sadly, a lot has changed since then, but this year we find ourselves celebrating a coronation."

Richmond - A Joyful Coronation Event for the whole family

Richmond town centre is dressed with flags and will welcome 'Beefeaters', while the streets feature a family-friendly augmented reality smartphone trail to mark the Coronation of King Charles.

The events are being organised by Be Richmond, which supports town centre businesses through attracting visitors to the area.

Town Centre, May 6 - Greeters styled as London Beefeater Guards will be positioned just outside the train station, offering the perfect selfie opportunity.

Separately, Ritz-style doormen will welcome visitors into the town and ensure a gracious entry to the stores.

Augmented reality trail, until May 8 – Say hello to Sir Lawrence the Lion who will guide visitors on their journey through the town's historic streets, where they will meet members of the animal kingdom.

As part of the event, visitors can download a free children's ebook of the story and meet the King in exciting augmented reality.

Along the way, visitors can interact with virtual images and information displayed in the physical environment, trying on the items that are given to Sir Lawrence by his friends to be worn at his own coronation.

Church Street, May 6 - Discover Twickenham is excited to announce that Church Street is gearing up for a fantastic celebration.

Many of the shops, bars and restaurants will be open late with lots of special offers and entertainment on hand.

The street will be adorned with lots of traditional bunting and union jack flags and the organisers are encouraging retailers to decorate their windows and outdoor areas.

The event is part of a national effort to boost community groups and bring people together as part of the celebrations around the coronation.

A series of volunteer events are to be held across the borough on Bank Holiday Monday under the banner of The Big Help Out.

The Poppy Factory, Richmond - Mark this once-in-a-generation event by booking tickets for a specially themed discovery session on Wednesday, May 10, and on selected dates throughout spring and summer.

Learn how the team worked with the Royal Household to create new Remembrance wreaths for the King, Queen Consort and Prince and Princess of Wales. You can also enjoy artisan hot drinks and a special Coronation cupcake in the café area or blossoming garden terrace.
