2-way traffic lights on key road into Teddington

By The Editor 5th Nov 2021

Drivers are being encouraged to turn right at the roundabout after Radnor Gardens if they are heading into Teddington.

Road closure signs have been placed at the start of Strawberry Vale and a diversion notice tells motorists to take Waldegrave Road into town.

The diversion is in place due to roadworks further up on Strawberry Vale around the point the road becomes Twickenham Road.

Two-way traffic lights are in operation to allow for the works. A pipe appears to have burst on the other side of the road, flooding part of the pavement and the cycle lane.

The road is only open for access (such as to residents living on side roads) - and not all road users are obeying the closure.

Drivers may only be noticing the sign after they reach the roundabout, by which point they have already indicated which way around it they plan on taking.

The road is not physically blocked off either.

But because some motorists are taking the diversion, coupled with low traffic levels due to the Tier 4 lockdown, the two-way traffic lights are causing minimal congestion.
