UP Close: with one of Ted's Market's newest traders
On Saturday, 22 February, Ted's Market introduced three new traders: Swiss Bread Bakery and Café, Collana Verde Farm, and Hilton Hams.
Swiss Bread Bakery and Café is the only authentic Swiss bakery in the UK.
It offers 16 different organic, fresh pastries, and cakes using traditional methods of baking and it won the Best Café in London 2024 Award at the Muddy Stilettos Awards.
The bakery and café, which is based in Ham, was almost completely sold out of its special pastries, sandwiches, and quiches by 1pm.
Fans of its products told Teddington Nub News they were thrilled to see it offering its "delicious items" at the market and were "excited" to see it return next month.
Swiss Bread is owned by two chefs, Andre Broglie and Tanja Gugger, who have worked together for over 20 years in various hotels in London.
The pair opened Swiss Bread, which is located in 175 Ashburnham Rd, in 2020, taking over from a German bakery which had been there for 20 years.
They redecorated it with a "charming" Swiss style.
In an exclusive interview with Teddington Nub News, Broglie's wife Caroline said that "Andre is both the chef and the baker. I am French and he is Swiss.
"We are thrilled with the success of our first time at Ted's Market and look forward to returning next month. We are known for our breads, pastries, cakes, sandwiches, quiches, and Swiss fondue in the winter months."
Gugger added: "Pane Castello is the number one bread sold at the bakery. We have six - 12 employees working in the bakery at various times."
Andre Broglie said: "We started as a bakery and are very happy with the success of the café".
Ted's Market runs on the last Saturday of every month from 10am - 2pm in the car park of the King's Head Pub.
It is thinking about expanding its opening days and adding an extra market in the same place on the second Saturday of every month.
