Learn the fundamentals of embossing in this hands-on workshop for beginners. Working with paper and metal foil, participants will explore techniques for creating raised designs using a range of tools and materials. With guided instruction, you will develop confidence in the process while producing your own embossed pieces. All materials are provided, and the session offers a supportive introduction to this detailed and tactile art form. By the end of the workshop, participants will have completed work to take home and the skills to continue exploring embossing independently.

Tutor Bio: Nicci Hicks is a South West London-based illustrator and designer specialising in hand-drawn illustration and dry embossing techniques. Her practice combines detailed line work with raised paper designs, creating tactile artworks inspired by nature, botanical forms and personal stories. Alongside producing bespoke commissions and paper-based artworks, Nicci leads creative workshops introducing participants to embossing and decorative paper techniques. Her teaching encourages close observation, experimentation and confidence in working by hand, creating supportive environments for beginners and developing makers alike. Sustainability and thoughtful craftsmanship are central to her practice, reflected in both her materials and making processes.
