Run in conjunction with Print Ink Paper Festival 2025

This workshop is for participants with some prior bookmaking experience.

In the session participants will cut down paper from full sheets and fold to make suitable signatures for this small journal. Confidence in cutting with a scalpel is essential. Participants will then make a hard cover from suitable board and cover with bookcloth, line with decorative paper and add ribbon ties.

We will then practice the diamond stitch pattern before completing the book with coloured thread. Since this is an exposed binding technique, some confidence in sewing neatly is required.

Gill regularly teaches bookmaking and other paper-based crafts at The Landmark. This class would be particularly suitable for previous students on Gill's 'Beginners' sessions.
