With the league secured last week, the focus now turned to whether the Antlers could make it to the end of the league campaign unbeaten.
They travelled to Chipstead on Saturday, knowing that this would be no easy game. Chipstead have only lost once this season, and that was when they came to Bushy Park last October.
The league leaders started well, absorbing some early Chipstead possession before scoring with their first attack of the game, when top try scorer Harry Smith chased through a probing kick and grounded the ball under the posts.
Bob Beevers converted, and the Antlers led 0-7. Chipstead came back at Teddington though and had the lion's share of possession for much of the first half. They were rewarded with a penalty and a try in the corner and turned around at half time leading 8-7.
The contest continued to be a tight one in the second half; Teddington's defence, as it has been all season was comfortable in dealing with Chipsteads direct carrying game, and they easily dealt with the threats that came their way.
When they did get possession, they worked good field position and Beevers added two penalties to give Antlers a 8-13 lead.
As the game wore on, Teddington were looking for the knockout blow and it was Smith who provided it with a fantastic solo effort, leaving defenders in his wake as he touched down for the winning try.
At 8-20, Chipstead threw what they could at Teddington, but the blue wall stood firm and the 21st win of the season was confirmed. Teddington now go to Old Rutlishians next week, to attempt to complete the perfect season.
It wont be easy as Old Ruts are now up to second in the table, but the league champions will enter the game with bags full of confidence.
Final Score: Chipstead RFC 8 Teddington RFC 20. Man of the Match Callum Johnston
The 2nd XV went into their game with Barnes Occasionals, knowing that anything barring a bonus point victory would see them out of the top two positions and with it any hope of promotion this season.
Teddington certainly rose to the challenge though scoring 6 unanswered trys and registering an emphatic 40-0 victory.
The league season will be sorted out over the coming weeks, but now the Antlers have done as much as they can in their quest for promotion.
Final Score: Teddington 2nd XV 40 Barnes Occasionals 0. Man of the Match Dev Devitt
