After a week off, the 1st XV were eager to get back to business on Saturday when they welcomed Purley John Fisher RFC to Bushy Park, and they delivered a statement performance to cement their position at the top of the table.

The reverse fixture back in December was an incredibly close affair, with Teddington coming from behind to steal a narrow victory; this one was very different, with the Antlers racking up a half century of points against a side who dominated a lot of the early possession and territory.

Confidence is high in this side though, and there is a trust in their defensive structure, which means they are happy to play without the ball for periods of time, knowing that when their chance comes they have clinical finishers across the park.

This was best illustrated, when PJF laid siege to the home sides try line early in the game, in what had been up until that point a very closely fought opening 20 minutes.

The Antlers defence was resolute as the play was switched from one side of the field to the other before Kerry Boyd pounced in at a breakdown to secure the turnover. Defensive efforts like that are as good as trys, although there were plenty of those to follow.

The Teddington try's were spread across forwards and backs, and came from James Frankenberger, George Bradford, Joe Stainer (2), Rory Mercer, Max Aitken and Alfie Ransom.

Stainer's second try was the pick of the bunch, finishing off a wonderfully choreographed move, but the sight of forwards Bradford and Ransom galloping in for their efforts was equally impressive.

Teddington put their unblemished record on the line again next week when they visit Old Amplefordians, a side who asked a lot of questions of us last time we met.

Final Score Teddington RFC 53 Purley John Fisher 6. Man of the Match James Frankenberger.

There was no 2nd XV fixture this week, but on Friday the Fat Stags were in action. Teaming up as always with our counterparts from Old Isleworthians, the combined Vets side took on Whitton Lions, under the lights at Imber Court.

Unfortunately, the advantage the Stags undoubtedly had in experience, was more than countered by what they gave away in raw speed, as the younger Whitton Lions side ran away with this one.

There were some highlights though, with a try from Harry Hurst and a 30 yard finish from Antlers second row stalwart Rory Credland, who rolled back the years to his days on the wing, and defied all his team mates who all had money on him never reaching the line.

Sunday was the turn of the women, who finally got the chance to take the field for the first time since December.

They welcomed Chesham Stags to Bushy Park and although they came out second best, they never gave up, showed real determination and continued to tackle and carry right up to the final whistle.

Chesham just had too many powerful runners in the end and they fully deserved the win.

There were stand out performances from Louise Gibbons and Laura Mackay and a Teddington try for Amy Stratford.

There were also debuts for Mary Harris and Emily Alland. Lots to look forward to next Sunday when the girls travel to Chesham for the return fixture.

Final Score Teddington Women 5 Chesham Stags 59

Finally both Teddington RFC Colts teams were in action at the weekend, and unfortunately both went down to narrow defeats, the A's losing 14-15 to Farnham and the B's missing out 14-17 to Dorking.

Great effort getting two sides out at this age level, but just not quite our weekend for the U18s.
