Kingston International Film Festival: More details revealed of event backed by Harry Potter director Mike Newell

MORE details of the upcoming Kingston International Film Festival (KIFF) have been revealed, including the eight prize categories that the festival's panels will be judging and cash prizes on offer for the winners.

KIFF was announced last year and counts Four Weddings and a Funeral director Mike Newell plus acting royalty Vanessa Redgrave among its patrons.

RNLI lifeboat crew were called to the Thames at Teddington Lock yesterday after a kayaker capsized near the top of the weir.

The kayaker swam to safety but lost his boat to the fast-flowing water in the incident which happened at 1.50pm.

THE Council Tax bill for a Band D property in Richmond borough is to rise above £2,000 for the first time.

The figure is set to rise by a below inflation rate of 3.21% - £62.87 a year – according to a report due to go before Council chiefs this week.

OVER 100 trees including valuable 'veteran' oaks were lost in Richmond and Bushy Parks due to Storm Eunice.

All of London's Royal Parks were closed during the storm which hit the UK last Friday (18 February), causing chaos across the country with trees blocking roads and railway lines.

A giant tree has fallen across Park Road in Teddington due to high winds brought by Storm Eunice

A MASSIVE tree has been felled by Storm Eunice in Teddington, temporarily blocking a main road.

The tree was blown over on Park Road A309 just in front of the Adelaide pub, at about 10.30am this morning.

A SEAL has been photographed lounging at Teddington Lock amid a rise in the number of seal sightings on this stretch of the river.

The long-muzzled visitor - believed to be a harbour seal - was spotted by Environment Agency staff member Kathryn Renshaw on Saturday 19 February.
