Woman arrested on suspicion of murder in Hounslow after body found in canal

A woman, 33, has been arrested as part of murder investigation after a body was found by Hounslow police in the canal off Bulls Bridge Lane.

Police were called to Northumberland Crescent, Feltham, at 10:26pm on Sunday, 6 August to reports of a concern for welfare. Officers attended the scene but nobody was found inside, however signs of a disturbance were discovered inside the property.

Detective Inspector Ollie Stride, investigating, said: "A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder and we believe this was an isolated incident." The woman was arrested standing near a car on Greenford Bridge, after fast-time enquiries.

Searches were carried out In the canal off Bulls Bridge Lane Southall the following day. The remains of a body, believed to be that of a 57-year-old woman, were found. 

DI Stride said: "We await formal identification of the deceased, however, specially trained officers are supporting the family. Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

"Searches are continuing in the area of Bulls Bridge Road and the Canal and I appreciate the public's patience while police cordons remain in place,"

Chief Superintendent Sean Wilson, in charge of policing in Hounslow, said: "This is a horrific incident and our thoughts are with the family of the deceased.

"Officers are patrolling the area so please do stop and talk to them."
