SATURDAY NIGHT: Mad Dog McCrea at the Landmark Arts Centre

Mad Dog McCrea blend a unique mixture of folk rock, pop, gypsy jazz, bluegrass and 'shake your ass' music.

From self-penned songs of adventure, drinking, love and life, to traditional songs of gypsies, fairies, legless pirates and black flies – Mad Dog never fail to capture their audience with their infectious songs.

"It's always a joy to me when something jumps up and smacks you between the eyes – Mad Dog McCrea did that to me" - Mike Harding

Time: 7.30pm. Tickets: £18 advance / £20 on door.

FRIDAY NIGHT: The Sherlocks at Banquet Records, Kingston

To celebrate the release of their third full length album titled World I Understand, Sheffield indie rockers The Sherlocks return to Kingston for an in-store acoustic set at Banquet Records.

While the rest of the world was put on hold, The Sherlocks were undergoing a rebirth. Two new band members Trent and Alex in and the Davidson brothers Josh and Andy stepping down. Working closely alongside Manic Street Preachers producer Dave Eringa, World I Understand stands as The Sherlocks' most unshackled and ambitious album to date.

Tickets are £12 and include a CD of the new album. Gig starts at 6pm.

SUNDAY: Machine Sewing for Beginners at United Response

In this three hour workshop you'll be given a step-by-step introduction to machine sewing, whilst creating your own beautiful and unique cushion cover.

Starting with an introduction to the sewing machine – how to wind a bobbin, thread the machine and sew in straight lines, you'll then move on to cutting out your fabric and learn how to sew it together to make a simple envelope cushion.

As well as learning how to sew seams, you'll find out about simple seam finishes and how to give your cushion a professional look.

All materials and use of sewing machines are included, though we do recommend that you bring your own machine if you have one, to help you to familiarise yourself with it better. We also provide lots of tea, coffee and home made cake.

Time: 10am – 1pm. Cost: £45

United Response is also hosting three other craft classes this weekend - see our What's On section for more details.
