Looking for something to do in and around Teddington this weekend? Here are our picks of the events and activities you won't want to miss:

SATURDAY NIGHT: Blues People – A Celebration of the music & the people who make it

Highly acclaimed songwriter and guitarist Mark Harrison, along with well-known national radio and TV broadcaster David Freeman, present an uplifting and informative evening of modern and classic blues songs and stories, about life today and the history of blues music and blues personalities.

Mark Harrison is a unique British songster who draws heavily on the blues for his inspiration, his songs covering both modern issues and the world of the original blues artists. He and his band tour extensively and have appeared frequently on BBC Radio.

David Freeman is a hugely experienced broadcaster for BBC, Jazz FM and Sky, and a leading authority on all forms of blues music and its history. He has done a host of live shows, including many literary festivals.

Time: 8pm. Tickets: £18 advance / £20 on door / £17 Landmark Members / £10 U21s

FRIDAY NIGHT: Disco Soul at Teddington Constitutional Club

If you enjoy 70's disco and soul music, with a handful of 60's Motown thrown in for good measure, put on your boogie shoes and come along to Teddington Constitutional Club, where DJ's "Disco Sue" and "Markus" play the best vinyl records to a friendly (if slightly worn out) bunch of party people of varying ages, who are old enough to know better.

Strut your funky stuff, relive your youth, or simply prop up the bar and enjoy the great music. No attitudes.

£5 cash on the door (£4 for TCC members).Groups welcome (if you're celebrating something, let us know and we can make space for you!).

SATURDAY: Tapestry Weaving Workshop at United Response

Join us for a wonderful day of textile art with expert weaver Hilary Charlesworth.

In this full day course held in the lovely studio at United Response, Teddington, Hilary will teach you all the skills necessary to produce your own woven designs. Using a simple frame loom and a variety of yarns, you'll spend the day learning how to weave a sampler of techniques, both traditional and 3D.

All materials, including loom and yarns, are included, so you'll be able to continue practising at home on your loom.The workshop is suitable for both beginners and those with some prior experience of tapestry weaving.

We'll provide lots of tea, coffee and cake throughout the day and there will be a break for lunch, when you can either eat a packed lunch or treat yourself at one of the many cafes in Teddington.

FRIDAY to SATURDAY: Teechers by John Godber at Hampton Hill Theatre

See Hampton Hill Theatre's auditorium seated in the Round for this A* classroom comedy from one of Britain's most popular playwrights.

This frantic play within a play sees students Gail, Hobby and Salty pay homage to their idealistic drama teacher Mr Nixon in an end-of-term play.

Teechers depicts life in a modern school with all its social politics for both teachers and students alike. Far too many characters played by far too few actors, in this fast-moving and highly entertaining play.

FRIDAY to SUNDAY: La boheme by Instant Opera at Normansfield Theatre

INSTANT OPERA returns to the Normansfield Theatre for a revival of its spectacular new production of Giacomo Puccini's most-loved masterpiece La bohème featuring a stellar international cast.

Tickets £24 – £26. Three performances only, this is not a show to be missed!
