Richmond upon Thames Council Leader, Gareth Roberts, has given an urgent Covid-19 update this afternoon.

The Liberal Democrat councillor for Hampton emphasised the statistics laid out by the Chief Medical Officer, Professor Chris Whitty, in an address to the national media earlier today.

Professor Whitty, along with Chief Scientific Officer Sir Patrick Vallance, stated that we could see 50,000 new cases every day if the current rate of infection continues.

Mr Roberts also confirmed that it is 'likely' that additional measures will be put in place to restrict the spread of coronavirus.

This likely means that a 10pm curfew will be put in place and households may be banned from mixing.
