A dispersal zone will be put in place around Teddington Lock and the surrounding areas from this afternoon.

After weeks of large gatherings on the bridge and 'beach' areas the council decided to act and together with the police and the Environment Agency a dispersal zone was put in place last weekend.

This had a great effect and the lock was relatively quiet and tranquil last weekend.

Due to the heatwave the council have once again decided that the dispersal zone needs to be put in place.

The council has particularly spoken out against those who jump from the bridge into the river as this can be very dangerous.

You can watch the video above of Richmond Council leader Gareth Roberts explaining why the area is being placed under a dispersal zone.
