Nub News praised by media minister John Whittingdale as we continue to support local businesses

By The Editor 5th Nov 2021

Teddington Nub News is proud to be a part of a growing local journalism network which has won praise from the government.

This week Nub News launched in three new towns - Maldon, Hitchin and Kenilworth.

Nub News began in January 2019 and we are expanding rapidly.

Our chief executive Karl Hancock said: "Our aim to become the largest online local news brand in the UK and we remain on track for that.

"What really excites me is the quality of candidates now applying for jobs with Nub News.

"We have seen a significant increase in the number of journalists looking to work for us."

Nub News is committed to the highest journalistic standards, integrity and professionalism

John Whittingdale, Minister of State for Media and Data, offered his praise.

Mr Whittingdale said: "Nub News, which employs professional journalists and where people can know that facts and stories are properly checked, is fulfilling an extremely important function.

"Local journalism has a crucial role in informing people about, and scrutinising, the work of councils, the police and other local bodies - and where things go wrong, asking questions."
