The police have issued an appeal to the public to help identify a man implicated in a series of burglaries.

The thin individual with dark hair and a large nose, who was wearing a padded green jacket, was captured on a doorbell camera.

Richmond Police tweeted: "We need to speak to the below male regarding a series of burglaries.

"If you have any info on who this male is or his whereabouts, please call 101 and quote ref 0702964/23."

A spokesperson told Nub News: "This post is in regards to an attempted burglary on March 19 in the Barnes area where no items were stolen.

"The male is being linked to two further burglaries, and a further attempted burglary at around the same time and in the same vicinity."

These were residential burglaries where he gained access and carried out an untidy search for valuables.

Doorbell cameras have proved a valuable new tool in deterring and identifying criminals, for example when capturing the images of thieves who target items left on doorsteps by couriers working for online retailers.

There has been a surge in this sort of theft across the borough alongside the rise in Online shopping.
