UPDATE: Seal by Teddington Lock has been there for a week

Earlier today we brought you a report of a second seal tragically washing up on the banks of the Thames between Richmond and Teddington Lock.

You can read that story HERE

However Nub News has now learned that this is in fact not a different seal but the same one that has been there for nearly a week.

Jan Louw- who brought us the original seal story last week walks this route every day.

Jan told us : "That is the same seal as the council has not gone and picked up the dead seal.

"I have raised this twice with them."

We also spoke to Cedric Marx, who provided us with the newer seal photos and he now believes this also could be the very same seal.

He said: "After some thought, I think it could be the same seal indeed..

"In my pictures it looked bigger / chubby but probably because I took them at close range and from an oblique angle."

This means this poor seal has been lying on the bank for around a week.

Hopefully Richmond Council will be able to deal with this seal as soon as possible.

Seals can often be found in the Thames from all the way at the estuary in the east to as far west as Thames Ditton.

You can check out the London Zoological Society's seal spotting map HERE
