The hospitality and leisure sectors were obviously one of the worst affected by the pandemic.

Hotels and bars up and down the country were forced to close for months on end and are now looking to bounce back.

The Lensbury in Teddington is a hotel and premium leisure club with 155 bedrooms and is continuing its reopening process.

Ideally situated on the banks of the Thames, its 25 acre gardens are back open and on July 4th the hotel and restaurant finally opened its doors once more.

Now as per government guidelines the leisure facilities can finally reopen from next weekend.

Nub News spoke to Marketing Manager at The Lensbury Sam Woolmore to find out more about the club.

Sam said: "Lockdown was the first time in our 100 year history that we ever had to close our doors.

"We only had three or four staff on site looking after the hotel.

"We don't expect business to fully return back to normal until 2022."

However it's far from all bad news as The Lensbury is already bouncing back from the crisis.

"We've adapted really fast to the crisis - we've introduced more outdoor dining and made the terrace bigger.

"You can also now picnic in the gardens. People have adapted their leisure habits because of this crisis."

Some activities at The Lensbury have proved particularly popular recently such as tennis and boating - this is due to how easy it is to socially distance during these pursuits.

And while some members are still nervous to return due to the fact they've been shielding their is now an increased demand for leisure activities.

Sam added: "The feedback has been really good. It's obviously been financially really challenging but we're just very pleased to start getting back to normal."
