United Response is a top 100 national charity that provides person-centred support to around 3,000 adults and young people with learning disabilities, mental health needs or physical disabilities across the country.

The Enterprise, located on Field Lane in Teddington, is one of the charity's bases where they have been carrying out their work for over 20 years.

The charity currently works with 70-80 people within Richmond borough, and many of its members choose the Enterprise to utilise United Response's range of services.

Support revolves around strengthening the independence of attendees ranging from housing services, helping to find suitable accommodation for people with challenging behaviour as well as 24/7 sleep support to help ease individuals who are now living on their own with mental or physical health conditions.

These transition services have been crucial to those moving through major life stages, from leaving school and moving from children's to adult's services, to those finding full-time work.

Nora Kerezovic, team leader at the Enterprise, is in charge of conducting well-being sessions focusing on empowerment and positivity, which stand out as one of the most popular sessions available and have been influential in strengthening members sense of independence.

Ms Kerezovic explained how the success of the well-being sessions is largely down to the strong communication she has with members, determining what issues they want addressed and subject matters that mean most to them.

The inclusive approach led to one of the attendee's close friends - a major in the British army - the chance to come down to the Enterprise and lead a motivational talk that went down a treat with all members in attendance.

A host of activity groups are also included within the Enterprise's programme including drama, cooking, dancing and karate, which are being particularly well attended.

Participants are regularly offered the chance to compete and work through their karate gradings. FSKA, a local karate club has worked closely with the Enterprise to consistently provide sessions for the charity's members.

The Enterprise is made up of a tight-knit team fully committed to ensuring their members, who face every day difficulties due to their disabilities, are living their lives to the fullest.

The attitude and approach every team leader bring to groups and sessions is something Ms Kerezovic feels is crucial to their success.

She said: "Not anyone can come through the front door, their essence has to tie in with the enterprise, this time is precious to the people we support, this is their down time, time out from supported living, we don't tamper with that, want to make it as memorable as possible."

An additional focus for the Enterprise is also maintaining and strengthening ties to the community. Working in tandem with local businesses, such as FSKA, as well as local charities and institutions.

In honour of the upcoming Queen's Jubilee celebrations, the Enterprise is running a colouring competition for local primary schools with the chance to win a host of vouchers.

The charity will also be hosting their own Jubilee party, and our encouraging people from across Teddington to come on down and celebrate on June 2nd.
