Waldegrave School alum and past Richmond Shakespeare Society member, Catrin Ody, is to co-direct with film director, Francesca Scorsese, daughter of famous director Martin, on a project in New York City.

Catrin gained a four-year scholarship in drama at New York University, having left Waldegrave School, Twickenham in 2018. She originally began her stage work at Twickenham's Mary Wallace Theatre taking on a variety of prize-winning roles. After completing her degree, she has gone on to write, direct and produce plays and short films in New York before catching Ms Scorsese's eye while working as an assistant director on a short film in 2022.

Discussing Catrin, Francesca Scorsese said: "From the minute I saw her begin to work, I knew immediately that I needed to work with her… Not only was I in awe at her talent, but she was also so approachable; she instantly made me feel comfortable.

"Very quickly after that, she agreed to work as an assistant director and producer on my own film, and let me just say it would have never turned out the way that it did without her. I just know that there is so much in store for the two of us women in film and that we can conquer just about anything."

Similar praise was expressed by journalist Annie Abramczyk, who wrote, 'Catrin will be a name that I anticipate the world will be hearing a lot in the future' in a review of Sentenced To This Vessel, a play Catrin produced in New York in 2021.

Catrin has her gaze firmly set on the Cannes Film Festival this summer, but says of her start :"I will always be grateful to Twickenham and my time at the Richmond Shakespeare Society. The teachers, fellow artists, and friends I have been lucky enough to learn from and work alongside have been instrumental in shaping my career so far."
