Twickenham band welcomes new members

St Margarets Elastic Band, a friendly community wind band based in Twickenham, is opening its doors to new members this September.
Whether you play flute, clarinet, saxophone, oboe, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, horn, euphonium, tuba, or percussion, the band would love to hear from you.
Under exciting new conductorship, the time to join the band is now!
No audition is required, and music is provided for home practice.
The suggested standard is approximately Grade 4/5+ with confident sight-reading skills, but the emphasis is on enjoying music-making together.
Rehearsals are relaxed and fun, taking place on Tuesday evenings during term time (7.30pm – 9pm) at St Stephen’s School Hall in Twickenham.
The band performs regularly in the local community, making it a great way to meet new people, improve your playing, and share music with others.

Why community bands matter
Community bands bring people together across ages and backgrounds, offering an inclusive space where music can be enjoyed regardless of profession or experience.
They create friendships, boost confidence, and give members a sense of belonging. Performances at local events help strengthen community spirit, add to cultural life, and bring live music to audiences who might not otherwise have access to it.
Recruitment Co-ordinator, Christina Daniel, said: “We’re a welcoming, inclusive group, and we love making music together. Whether you’re a seasoned player or coming back to your instrument after a break, you’ll find a friendly atmosphere here.”
If you are interested in joining, contact Christina at [email protected] or visit the band’s website.
You can also find the band on Facebook at St Margaret’s Elastic Band Group.
