The operators of the Radnor Gardens cafe today appealed for help in tracking down the 'heartless' thieves who stole THIRTY EIGHT chairs from the cafe.

The plastic, grey chairs. which were unusual in that they came directly from IKEA in Denmark rather than the UK, were stolen after a break-in at the disabled toilets at the Cross Deep cafe over the weekend.

They were light in weight and easily stacked but owner Siobhan Dillon and her family believe a vehicle must have been used in the raid.

The chairs were probably valued at about £40-£50 each. The cafe provides a perfect place for a coffee next to the river and for families with children who use the nearby playground.

It would have been packed over the sunny weekend and the upcoming May Bank Holiday, if not for the COVID-19 restrictions.

Siobhan Dillon said:"What kind of person carries out this kind of heartless act at this particular time. It's impossible to understand. Please keep an eye out for them. They are pretty distinctive.

"If anyone has any information or suspicions please contact us. We are checking local CCTV which hopefully may help."
