Teddington's Cafe Benedict celebrates a year on the high street
Popular Teddington cafe and restaurant Cafe Benedict has just celebrated a year on the high street.
Balloons and celebratory signs could be seen outside the shop this month as staff marked the milestone.
The celebration comes after a series of long lockdowns which left many in the hospitality industry struggling.
Teddington cafes adapted by offering regulars takeaway food and selling luxury goods for customers to enjoy at home.
But it was undeniably a hard time to be a newcomer to the high street.
Yet Cafe Benedict thrived, racking up an impressive 4.7 Google star rating from 160 reviews and being name-checked in a Times article crowning Teddington as the best place to live in London.
Last month a reporter visited the cafe to learn more about what makes our town so great and was full of praise.
Cafe Benedict's owner Ben Phillips told Nub News: "We very happily celebrated our first official birthday on Saturday 11th September.
"What a year it's been.
"We have felt so blessed by the welcome and continued support that we have received from the good folk of Teddington.
"Despite the ups and downs of the lockdowns we haven't missed a day serving up the food and drink we love.
"We look forward to celebrating many more anniversaries in the years to come.
"Thank you Teddington."
