Teddington World Cup Group B Preview: Riverside vs The Street

5th Nov 2021 | Local News

The Teddington World Cup of Hospitality kicks off next week and there are 16 excellent venues ready to try and become the champion of Teddington.

In Group B we have four wildly different forms of hospitality so here's a quick reminder of what they are all about.

Remember the World Cup will be contested between 24th and 28th August on Twitter and Facebook.

Group B will take place on the 24th and the polls will run between 9am and 4pm.

So without further ado here's a quick line about all the restaurants, pubs and cafes in this contest.

The Anglers

Here's how the riverside pub describe themselves:

"Situated on the Thames next to Teddington Lock, the Anglers has existed since the mid 18th century. The place was popular among local fishermen, who would spend hours on the river bank.

"Acquired by Fuller's around 2010, it remains a vibrant riverside pub, serving twelve ales and lagers, an extensive wine list, a variety of spirits and, of course, friendly and professional service.

"One of Fuller's busiest pubs, everyone is welcome at the Anglers. It's family-friendly space makes it popular with parents in local neighbourhoods, providing an ideal place for them to enjoy a quality meal while their children play in the enclosed outdoor playground.

"In the summer months, the large garden and outdoor bar is practically bursting with laughter and good-hearted fun, while the cosy fireplaces keep everyone feeling just as merry in the colder winter months."

Ruba Restaurant

Here is how the Lebanese Restaurant describe themselves:

"The word Ruba means green rolling hills overlooking mountainscapes. Lebanon is blessed with picturesque views of green countrysides, painted with pastel colors, designed to evoke peace and serenity. Ruba have enhanced this escape from urban madness and brings you closer to rural sanity.

"Our settings, aromas, flavors, services, and warm hospitality will transport you to that place. Sync in harmony with Ruba and reach a sea of internal tranquility.

"Whether you are dining with family, or hanging out with friends, guests, staff or business partners, Ruba brings you the authentic spirit of Lebanese culture and "Joie de vivre" and leaves you craving for more.

"The concept and refined cuisine are great for sharing and socializing, ideal for families, friends and groups to come together and have an amazing time while enjoying superb service and superior food standards. Ruba intends to bring the famed Lebanese hospitality to your gatherings."

Flying Cloud Cafe

This is another riverside venue that offers cakes, cold drinks and ice creams during the summer months.

Here is a five star Trip Advisor review left last month:

"We are coming regularly just for Flying Clouds delicious Milk/cream ice creams. Available flavours are Mint choc, vanilla, strawberry, chocolate , salted caramel and redcurrant/clotted cream. Always kind service. Usually enough places to have a seat with panoramic views over the Thames. Hand sanitizers are provided. Definitely would recommend."

Bar Estilo

This restaurant is flying the flag for tapas in this competition.

Here's how they describe themselves:

"Bar Estilo is the perfect place to meet with friends, family or colleagues as our casual dining, relaxed bar and stylish décor can't be beaten!

"Whatever the occasion, a shopping stop for a jug of Sangria and a few tapas, dinner out with family and friends or a great value lunch; Estilo has something to suit them all. Our menu offers a wide selection of tapas, light mains, burgers, grills and specialities including paellas & pasta dishes."

You can find Bar Estilo on Broad Street.
