The lifts at Teddington Station officially opened for operation today, Friday, 7 March after a five-month delay.

Originally, the lifts were set to open in October, but this was delayed until the end of December, and was then again delayed until March.

The new lifts should improve accessibility for elderly and disabled travellers, as well as families with young children and heavy prams.

The £3.6m 'Access for All' scheme began in September 2023 and has seen two lifts opening between the two platforms on Station Road and Victoria Road.

The two lifts have a capacity of 16 people each.

The lifts will be open for a two week 'monitoring' period to ensure there are no issues and then a formal opening will be organised with local MPs and those involved in the project attending.
