A popular High Street restaurant and the pub opposite are two of the locations for a new SKY comedy series starring West End actress, singer and TV star, Sheridan Smith, Nub News can exclusively reveal.
The two five-part series, commissioned by Hartswood Films, is called Rosie Molloy Gives Up Everything and Sheridan Smith plays Rosie, who suffers from depression and is battling various demons.
According to a Sky insider the storyline focusses on: " A workaholic with a senior career in a high-end accountancy firm, Rosie is seen striving to recover from a spiral of self-destruction brought about by her relentless over-achieving and high-stress workload."
Part of the series was filmed at OneOneFour restaurant in the High Street and then the pub opposite The King's Head, which was closed to customers for the day as the cast and crew set up in the large marquee in the former car park.
The comedy, which will be seen on Sky Max or Sky Comedy, has been written by Susan Nickson following extensive consultations with mental health professionals and is expected to air later this year.
In recent years Sheridan Smith has appeared in a number of acclaimed stage roles, including a long run as central character Elle Woods in the stage adaptation of Hollywood hit Legally Blonde, Hedda Gabler at The Old Vic, and the narrator in 2019's hit London Palladium revival of Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
She was most recently seen on screen in BBC drama Four Lives as well as The Teacher and No Return.
She was made an OBE in the 2015 New Year Honours for her acting work and has won two prestigious Olivier Awards, a BAFTA and a National Television Award..
Teddington and Richmond and the surrounding areas have become increasingly popular locations for films and TV series – most recently with the APPLE TV+ series Ted Lasso being filmed around Richmond Green and receiving global coverage.
Teddington was recently voted as one of the best places to live in London in a SundayTimes survey.
Local viewers will also need to keep their eyes out for a new series on Amazon Prime called Ten Percent, which is the British version of an award-winning French series called Call My Agent, based upon a talent agency, which was also partly filmed at OneOneFour last year. It starts on Thursday and will feature cameo roles for stars such as Dominic West, Helen Bonham Carter, Kelly MacDonald and Jim Broadbent.
Both OneOneFour and The King's Head were approached for comment but said they had been asked to make no comment about the filming activity.
