Popular Teddington restaurant OneOneFour was the location yesterday (21 June) for the filming of the UK version of the much-acclaimed French comedy-drama Call My Agent!

The front windows of the restaurant opposite the Kings Head pub on the high street were sealed over, but cameras and lights could be seen in the main dining room of the restaurant.

Security guards were posted outside the restaurant and film equipment vehicles were parked on the main road. Film crews made use of the nearby coffee outlets.

Cast and crew were also based at the Royal British Legion in Teddington across the road.

The restaurant will appear in the series as 'Café Soho' and another location in Richmond is expected to be used as 'Pub Soho.'

Call My Agent! ran for four seasons on Netflix from 2015 to 2020.

The show tells the story of a Paris-based talent agency called ASK, which is struggling to keep its clients through a business crisis and the sudden death of its founder, as well as tracking the emotional and fractious relationships between the scheming agents themselves.

The original series, known as 'Dix Pour Cent' in France, can still be seen with sub-titles on Netflix .

In the French version various major stars made cameo appearances including Sigourney Weaver, Monica Belluci and Juliette Binoche.

The UK version, written by BBC sitcom W1A creator John Morton, began filming in London last month.

Actors Lydia Leonard and Jack Davenport will be playing the roles of the key agents, Rebecca and Jonathan, who are loosely based on Andrea and Mathias from the French series.

Other actors include Maggie Steed as Stella, plus newcomers Harry Trevaldwyn (The King) as Ollie and Hiftu Quasem (Killing Eve) as Misha. It is not known whether any of the main actors were on set in Teddington yesterday.

The UK series will also feature cameo roles for well-known faces including Line of Duty's Kelly MacDonald, Olivia Williams and Helena Bonham-Carter.

Its first season will have 8 hour-long episodes and filming will continue until September 2021.

The UK series will be shown on Amazon Prime Video next year.

Executive producer Christian Baut, who splits his time between Paris and London, said: "I first watched the show on TV in France back in 2015 and fell in love with it straight away.

"I immediately thought it would be a slam dunk in English and I went to speak to the French studio.

"Sometimes people think comedies don't travel well but when there's the right mix of comedy and drama and a strong story they absolutely can travel.

"The appeal of the show comes a lot from its very flawed characters who band together as a community to get things done against the odds.

"The show ultimately expresses humanity in a very sweet way."

Nub News contributor and Call My Agent fan, Stuart Higgins said: "This was one of the best TV series to watch lockdown, full of brilliant edgy humour and drama, a truly fantastic cast, lots of surprises and if the British version can replicate the original it will be a massive hit."
