TEDDINGTON restaurants and venue the Landmark Arts Centre have been recognised at this year's Time and Leisure Awards for Food & Culture.

The annual awards by Time and Leisure magazine aim to recognise the best dining and entertainment on offer in Surrey and South West London.

Although no Teddington establishment won a category outright, several were Highly Commended, Commended or Recommended, placing them in the top 10 for their category.

One One Four on the high street - used last year as a filming location for the UK version of Call My Agent! - bagged 'Highly Commended' in the Fine Dining category.

The restaurant is ranked 3rd out of 52 in the Teddington area on TripAdvisor and has a 4.8 Google rating.

It is owned by husband and wife team Sam and Alex Berry along with three other restaurants in Surbiton - No.97, Cento Uno, and The Hideaway which opened last year. All four restaurants were nominated for Time and Leisure awards, with No.97 wining Best Service and The Hideaway taking Highly Commended for alfresco dining.

Following the awards, Sam Berry said: "We're super stoked to have made it to the top 10 finalists across various categories and having all four of our restaurants shortlisted is an amazing feeling! It's a credit to our amazing staff and of course our customers.

"2021 / 2021 has had its ups and downs for everyone but our community has stood by us all the way and helped us survive! We will be forever grateful.

"A massive thank you to Time & Leisure Magazine for their continued support championing local businesses and bring on 2022. Let's smash it everyone."

Teddington's Landmark Arts Centre was also recognised across several of the culture categories at this year's awards.

The community arts centre on Ferry Road was Commended for Most Innovative Arts/Community project and Recommended in the Cultural Experience of the Year and Favourite Entertainment Venue categories.

Landmark Centre Manager Lesley Bossine said: "The Landmark Arts Centre is both honoured and excited to be one of the 10 finalists in the Culture Experience of the Year and Entertainment Venue categories.

"After the most difficult two years in our 25-year history, to be recognised in this way means so much to the whole team – trustees, staff and volunteers – and it is made even more special coming from the readers of Time & Leisure.

"Throughout the rollercoaster lockdown months, we received so many messages of support from the local community and now it is great to welcome them back to enjoy a bumper crop of live music, comedy, exhibitions and activities. Roll on 2022!"

Teddington restaurant Shambles was also Recommended for Best Alfresco Dining.

A spokesperson for the restaurant said: "We're thrilled to be nominated for the Best Alfresco Dining award.

"The last two years have been very challenging, so it's great to see the team's hard work paying off."

Nearby Kingston scooped several of the awards, with businesses and venues from the borough winning five out of the sixteen general categories.
