Teddington Lock footbridge was fully open and as busy usual today (sat) with a steady procession of cyclists, joggers, dog walkers and morning strollers enjoying the bank holiday sunshine.

The bridge was temporarily closed for several hours last night (fri) and cordoned off with warning signs and police tape as council engineers made urgent checks of the structure.

In a clarification statement at 8.30pm last night a council spokesperson said:"Teddington Lock Foot Bridge has now reopened but side stairwell remains closed where repairs are needed.

"Apologies for any inconvenience."

The bridge is used by thousands of people every day and would be busier than usual over a sunny bank holiday weekend with local people seeking exercise and fresh air during the lockdown.
