Teddington in flower is back for 2021 - but not as you know it!

For many years now, the annual Teddington in Flower event – in which members open their back gardens for one afternoon in June in aid of local charities – has been a much anticipated and enjoyable event for us all.
However, for the second year running, the Covid pandemic has made this special community day impossible.
So this year, the Teddington Society are organising something new.
They are asking everyone in Teddington with a front garden, little or large – or possibly just a window ledge, a hanging basket or two, a few plant pots or even a shop front – to exercise their green fingers with colourful and eye-catching planting.
"Aim to have your display throughout the month of June and ending on 27th, which would have been the date of the Village Fair this year, sadly another Covid casualty" encourages Society chairman Sheena Harold.
"And traders! How about matching the colours of Richmond Council's hanging street baskets, which are already brightening up the town throughout the summer?
"They use white and purple surfinias, red ivy leaf geraniums, salmon trailing begonias, blue scaveolas and red dragon wing begonias in their fetching street displays."
So… anyone can plant blooms or veg, even augment their display with novelties – "anything colourful which will stop a passer-by and get an instant WOW!" says Sheena.
And why not take a photograph of your display?
The Teddington Society would love to see it, so email a photograph to [email protected]
Or, if you're not online, send your photo to the Teddington Society, 1 Avenue Road, Teddington TW11 0BT and a selection will be published in the Society's Tidings magazine, on Instagram and on the website.
