Teddington's Co-op store only opened two years ago and has quickly got stuck into town life.
The supermarket on Kingston Road holds regular fundraisers and collections for charities and good causes.
In two raffle draws they raised £700 for the mental health charity Mind.
Manager Amila Heenatigala said: "Customers have been brilliantly supportive of whatever event we hold in store."
He puts this down to his estimate that 80-90% of customers are from Teddington, so they feel invested in such initiatives.
Staff are allowed to run their own projects. Sasheela Ajithkumar started a collection point for a local food bank (the Epsom and Ewell Food Bank).
"I suggested to my store manager that we could run a food bank drop off point," Sasheela said.
"It's useful for a lot of people in need, especially the homeless. That makes me feel good doing charity for the community."
In the first month customers dropped off 16kg worth of items, mostly kitchenware, as Co-op answered the food bank's call for specific donations.
They are on track to match it this week thanks to the items they have received. "This is typical of our customers," Amila said. "I've got three full baskets in the back too."
