Local disability charity Ruils have launched an emergency appeal as multiple fundraising events are cancelled due to COVID-19.
The charity sector has been hit hard by the pandemic and this appeal is vital for Ruils to continue to raise funds.
Cathy Maker, CEO of Ruils said:
"During the Covid-19 pandemic, Ruils has been inundated with requests for support from vulnerable local people.
"We are proud that we haven't turned anyone away, and that our fantastic army of volunteers has enabled us to deliver more than 1,000 food parcels and make over 1,500 phone calls to isolated people.
"We want to continue to be there for the people who need us, and we urgently need your help. Please donate today at www.ruils.co.uk/donate."
The money raised from this appeal will help the charity to continue to support the vulnerable and isolated people it works with.
The charity provides information, advice, befriending and activities for adults and children with disabilities.
Ruils has been helped out by the local community with over 100 volunteers stepping up to provide services such as delivering shopping, collecting prescriptions and being a friendly voice for the people the charity supports.
One local resident praised the work of Ruils.
She said: "I don't think you realise how much you are helping people at the moment. Without you my daughter would not eat, I am so appreciative."
