Shambles Italian restaurant and wine bar is one of the many Teddington venues desperate to re-open its outside eating and drinking areas.

The Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to tell Parliament tomorrow that the two metre social distance guidance will be reduced to one metre and that cafes, pubs and restaurants may be able to re-open from Saturday, July 4.

Shambles, the King's Head pub, The Anglers Pub, The Tide End pub, The Park Hotel and The Builders and the Clockhouse and Railway and Lion pubs are amongst the local venues which have outside eating and drinking areas.

The new rules are expected to include guidance regarding reservations, the number of customers allowed entry as well as strict health and safety rules about serving food and access to toilets.

Shambles owners Massimo and Margherita Langella said today:"We're looking forward to the day we can welcome you back.

"We're missing life at Shambles, our team, our guests and the atmosphere. Hopefully it's not too long and we can all enjoy an al fresco Aperol Spritz and zucchini fritti in the garden."

Shambles has operated a successful pop-up cafe on Fridays and Saturdays over the last month with an Italian deli and serving prosecco and beer and takeaway specialities like lasagne.
