Bus strikes due to take place in Teddington tomorrow have been cancelled following an offer for improved pay for drivers.

Seven bus depots across South-West London and Surrey were due to take part in the strike which was expected to disrupt services on routes in Teddington and beyond.

Later planned strike action on Friday 7 May and Saturday 8 May has been suspended while details of the revised offer can be finalised.

Since February this year, bus drivers employed by London United, a subsidiary of French company RATP, have been involved in a series of strikes in a dispute over pay.

Once the new offer is finalised, members of the Unite union, who have been involved in the industrial action, will be balloted on the proposed pay deal.

If no deal can be agreed, the May strikes will go ahead as planned.

Unite regional officer Michelle Braveboy said: "The revised offer made by RATP is a positive development and therefore strike action has been suspended to finalise the deal.

"If the offer is agreed by members, future industrial action will be called off.

"From the very beginning of this dispute Unite has always been clear that these matters could and should be resolved through negotiation."
