The DISTINCTIVE blue and yellow flags of Ukraine were spotted in an unusual place today - on a pontoon outside The Boat House next to Teddington footbridge.

Surprised passers-by and dog walkers took photos of the flags caught in the afternoon breeze.

One woman remarked: "That's fantastic, so many people will see that on their way to work or when they're out for a walk."

It is believed the flags were raised by Howard and Malcolm Miatt, who run The Boat House in Ferry Road, opposite the Tide End pub.
