THE female rowing trio, who appeared at a SporTedd event in Teddington last year to share their upcoming challenge to break the World Record for crossing the Atlantic, shared a glass of champagne with HRH Duchess of Cornwall at Clarence House on International Women's Day this week.

The Duchess generously invited the women, two of whom attended Lady Eleanor Holles school in Hampton, for a cup of tea and a glass of champagne after they smashed the World Record by making the 3000 mile crossing in 42 days, seven hours and seven minutes.

The rowers, Kat Cordiner, Abby Johnston and Charlotte Irving - known as Team ExtraOARdinary - were special guests at a SporTedd event at The Wharf restaurant and told of their aim to raise £100,000 for three cancer charities in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge. Kat has fought her own personal battle against cancer.

The Duchess, who was presented with an oar-shaped brooch and a bottle of whisky by the women, said: "It was wonderful to meet the remarkable Kat, Abby and Charlotte - aka Team ExtraOARdinary - on International Women's Day."

Kat Cordiner told Nub News: "It was a fantastic gesture by Her Royal Highness specially after she had sent us a good luck message before we set out. We feel very honoured and all three of us loved the chance to dress up for a special occasion!"
