A Teddington-based student has developed four free online games on QuestHQ which areinspired by the New York Times' daily games like Wordle.

Isaac Bloodworth, who is currently studying Sport and Exercise Science at St Mary's University, decided to create his own games after the New York Times put a paywall on its daily games.

In an exclusive interview with Teddington Nub News, Bloodworth explained that he used to play the paper's games, including wordle and the mini crossword "all the time".

He said: "But then when they paywalled it, I stopped using the website and wanted to make my own game."

Bloodworth came up with two of the games while his friend came up with one and his dad the other.

The student explained that he had help from his dad, who works in web development, and his friend, who is studying Computer Science at Nottingham, to help him create the games.

Speaking about the games, he said: "I just wanted to make a game that's free for anyone to play and keeps your brain active in the same way that those New York Times games did."

Bloodworth's games include Word Sweeper, which he came up with himself.

Speaking about Word Sweeper, he said: "Word Sweeper is where you complete a minesweeper game to help you get letters to complete five, Wordle type puzzles."

The next game is Word Dinos where gamers "put the end of one word into the start of another word," says Bloodworth.

Bloodworth says the third and fourth games are "more simple". These include a country guessing game, Nation Notion, and On Track where "You start on a certain number, and using plus, minus and multiplication, you have to create a path to get to the final number".

The student says he is !really into [his] games". He added: "since World War I came out in lockdown, I started playing various different daily puzzle games."

Bloodworth first came up with the idea to create his own games during the summer and created them within a week.

Bloodworth's games are suitable to play on mobiles, PCs, and tablets, and are targeted at teenagers and adults, apart from Nation Notion, which is also suitable for kids.
