Restaurants across Teddington are gearing up for a big reopening on July 4th after three months without customers.

Italian restaurant IL Preferito, on Kingston Road, first opened in December and had just seen business pick up before lockdown was announced.

Now finally able to reopen partner Ron De Silva described the struggles the restaurant has had to endure in the past few months.

He said: "It was a massive blow for us. It was hard financially but emotionally as well.

"We started off doing takeaways however we had to stop as we could not work safely and did not want to spread the virus."

However things are now looking up for the restaurant and Ron is a lot more optimistic about the future.

"The next two weeks will be very busy for us.

"We have started preparing the new summer menu and adding some new outdoor seating.

"The outside of the restaurant is being rebranded as well."

The restaurant serves a whole host of Italian food and is looking to incorporate more British food on its menu soon.

Coronavirus has certainly brought communities closer together and Ron explains that IL Preferito wants to help others out in Teddington.

"We want to offer members of societies in Teddington a discount. I would encourage them to get in contact with us."

It is more important now than ever to support local businesses and you can find out more about IL Preferito here: http://www.ilpreferito.co.uk/
