Thousands turned up for Teddington's Christmas Lights Up last night, Thursday 28 November, and it definitely got everyone in the festive spirit.
With High Street, Broad Street, and Church Road closed off for the event, locals were able to stroll up and down freely and enjoy the food, drinks, and gift stalls.
Starting in the early evening, the Lantern Parade with Teddington & Hampton Rotary Club and Teddington Rugby kicked off the event.
At the same time, there was a Santa's Grotto at the King's Head pub car park on Broad Street, which also had an outdoor stall selling drinks and snacks.
At Cedar Road car park, children were able to enjoy kid's fairground rides.
Teddington RNLI also set up camp next to the King's Head, allowing children to climb aboard its orange Class D lifeboat, Alderman Penny Shelton, and little blue tractor.
On board to help out were Teddington RNLI crew members, Steph who is a crew paramedic, and Damian, who is a helm for the crew.
At 6pm was the main event, the grand switch on of the Christmas tree lights on Broad Street.
To help with the light switch was NPL and the Mayor of Richmond, Richard Pyne.
Lots of residents, including local MP, Munira Wilson gathered round the tree to see the lights switched on and join in the countdown.
Following this, the Teddingtones gathered in front of the tree to spread some festive cheer with traditional Christmas carols.
The event's sponsors, including The Lensbury had stalls up along Broad Street.
Even local campaign group, Save Our Lands and Rivers set up base for the event
It truly was a magical evening enjoyed by all and Teddington Together did an excellent job organising it.
