Molesey Regatta Festival

About: Disappointed you missed out on the fun at last weekend's Kingston Regatta? Or perhaps you want to keep the rowing going? Either way, this regatta in nearby West Molesey has you covered.

This two-day event is home to its own invitation event called the Garrick Doubles – designed to bring together a senior and a novice oarsman together in one crew, the unique event has remained the same at its core since its debut 118 years ago.

More recently, a new cup was added as a prize for one of the events. In 2018, an 1874 Molesey Regatta oak-bound quart tankard was presented to the regatta in honour of its long-standing committee member and president from 2001 to 2004, Dick 'Douglas' Child.

About: Well-loved Teddington jazz venue The Wharf Bar & Grill has another weekend of superb music lined up for locals.

Pete Saunders brings his own funky, bluesy takes to jazz, pop, and rock classics, which organisers say "are irreverent and eclectic. It's a world where the Cure meet the Aristocats and Ellington meets popular TV themes".

Joining him is French singer and violinist Oriana, who will transport you from a 1920s speakeasy one minute to a Parisian café the next.

Of course, accompanying the duo will be The Wharf, offering its high-quality dining and bar experience throughout the day.

When: Sunday 21 July @ 1:30pm.

Where: The Wharf Bar & Grill, 22 Manor Road, Teddington, TW11 8BG.

Price: Open to all diners.

Thames Philharmonia

The concert offers a captivating programme that showcases the emotional depth and technical brilliance of two monumental works from the Romantic era.

The orchestra will be playing Elgar's Symphony: intricate, expressive, and technically challenging, with many describing it as the Mount Everest of piano concertos.

For those more interested in the visual arts, Landmark Arts is also hosting a Korean art exhibition from Friday 19 to Sunday 21 July, with more information available here.

When: Saturday 20 July @ 6:45pm for doors, 7:30pm for music.

With an evening of performances on Saturday and open studio on Sunday, there's plenty of opportunities to get to grips with Dawn's exploration of the 'giant panopticon' of social media.
