Byzantine Journey: Icon Painting & Gilding – Saturday 4 May

This 10-week course is suitable for even the most novice of Byzantine iconographer (Photo: Landmark Arts Centre)

This 10-week course is an opportunity to delve deep into traditional icon painting and undertake a journey through its many varied and fascinating medieval processes.

Participants will be able to create their own version of a beautiful late Byzantine icon of the 'Virgin and Child' to approximately A4 size, on a professional-quality linden-wood board, using genuine gold leaf and painting in egg tempera.

An important part of the course will be an art historical component, which will consider many aspects of the icon, from its iconography, function and meaning, as well as contemporary contexts.

Tutor Helen Dejean's sessions run from 10am to 12:30pm.

Consent at Hampton Hill Theatre – Until Saturday 4 May

Justice is blind – even in plain sight.

Join Teddington Theatre Club for the final performance of Consent this weekend.

Friends Ed and Tim take opposing briefs in a sexual assault case. The key witness is a woman whose life seems a world away from theirs.

At home though the barristers' own lives start to unravel in a frenzy of betrayals and recrimination.

Nina Raine's funny, perceptive and gut-wrenching play sifts the evidence from every side and puts justice herself in the dock.

The Times says: "Rich with humanity… a modern classic."

Weekday showings start at 7:45pm, with two shows at 2pm and 6pm on Saturday.
