South Western Railway has announced the dates for further industrial action that will take place in the first week of November.

Workers are striking over pay and conditions, with unions objecting to pay offers that sit well below the rate of inflation.

Saturday November 5, Monday November 7 and Wednesday November 9 will see the latest walkouts from SWR staff and passengers have been urged to seek alternative modes of transport and plan journeys comfortably in advance.

Initially, RMT had planned for one of the November walkouts to be schedules for the 3rd but earlier today announced it had been pushed forward to the 9th to avoid clashing with the Royal British Legion's Poppy Day Collection.

The Legion, which raises millions for armed forces veterans, thanked RMT via twitter adding: "We are very grateful and appreciate the significance of this gesture."

RMT has stated the dispute over pay, conditions and pay is ongoing and the union will continue its industrial campaign until they have reached a negotiated settlement.

RMT general secretary Mick Lynch said: "Our focus in this dispute is the rail employers who have yet to make an offer that will create the conditions for a negotiated settlement.

"I call upon the new Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to unshackle the rail industry so they can come to a settlement with RMT.

"We will vigorously pursue our industrial campaign until we achieve a deal."

A severely reduced timetable will run during the scheduled dates of industrial action, with some parts of the network expected to be closed entirely.

More information regarding what services will be running will be announced 'soon'.
