Up-and-coming rock 'n' roll band Hardwicke Circus will join Robert Elms on BBC Radio London for an interview and performance, this afternoon (August 18).

The band will be on air from around 1.45pm, to discuss their latest album, Fly The Flag, and to perform some tracks from it.

Making a name for themselves as "the UK's hardest working band", the five piece released their sophomore album last month. It is said to be the band at their most urgent, delivering 12 break-neck recordings "like their lives depend on it".

Produced by Stiff Records' Dave Robinson, Fly The Flag features guest appearances from Earl Slick (John Lennon, David Bowie), Snake Davis, Terry Edwards (PJ Harvey), Seamus Beaghan (Iggy Pop, Madness) and a Cumbrian youth choir.

Brothers and bandmates Jonny and Tom Foster grew up with a passion for making music, surrounding themselves with the best musicians their native Carlisle had to offer.

Lead singer Jonny told Nub News: "Fly the Flag was borne out of our competitive nature. It's a journey into our love of rock 'n' roll and Motown, and all that great music. It's a dive into our own encyclopaedias, and it's us fighting for which direction we should go in.

"It allows us to push each other to exciting new places."

Formed in Carlisle, Hardwicke Circus have over 1,000 gigs under their belt - including a recommendation from Sir Paul McCartney to play at Glastonbury, a UK Prison tour, and a support slot with Bob Dylan in Hyde Park.

Listen to Hardwicke Circus live on BBC Radio London this afternoon, via BBC Sounds or 94.9FM.

At its core, Nub News is about supporting local people, businesses, and artists. Hardwicke Circus is made up of five incredibly talented musicians, who are working for their fame the old-fashioned way. That's why we want to share their incredible story with our local readers.
