RMT union strike action continues nationwide as South Western Railway (SWR) confirms "significantly" reduced services on Saturday 26 August.

Trains will only run between the hours of 7am and 7pm, with the last trains departing at around 5pm. Customers are advised to only travel if absolutely necessary, with short notice cancellations possible. 

Sports events in the South West London area will be particularly affected. Customers should check their entire journey before travelling, as other operators are also affected. They should also note the last train times, which will be earlier than usual, and consider alternative travel if possible. 

Customers are advised that: 

• A small number of additional services will run to Twickenham before and after the international rugby union match between England and Fiji. The last service from Twickenham will depart at around 1830. 
• Brentford FC will be playing Crystal Palace at the GTech Community Stadium and the last train from Kew Bridge to London Waterloo after the match will depart at approximately 1830. 
• The men's and women's Hundred Eliminator cricket matches take place at The Kia Oval, starting at 1430. The last trains from London Waterloo will depart from 1700. 
• There are no trains running between Feltham and Windsor & Eton Riverside due to engineering work. Rail replacement bus services will not run and customers are advised to make alternative arrangements if they are intending to travel to watch the horse racing at Windsor in the evening. 

Journey planners are up to date and customers travelling to events on the SWR network are advised to check before travelling and consider other travel arrangements if possible. Customers should also check their entire journey before travelling as other operators will be impacted.  

Due to engineering work in the Staines area, there will be no trains to Windsor and Eton Riverside due to engineering work and rail replacement bus services will not run, affecting travel to horse racing in Windsor. 

Island Line services will run as normal. 

SWR will not serve any of Portsmouth's stations, however Portsmouth Harbour will be open for the connection with Wightlink Ferries.

Customers travelling to the Victorious Festival and Portsmouth fans travelling to Stevenage should make alternative travel plans. Fans will not be able to get a train from Portsmouth to London.

As on previous RMT strike days, there will be no services on the lines between Woking and Portsmouth Harbour via Guildford, or between Eastleigh and Portsmouth Harbour via Fareham. 

On Sunday 27 September, train services will start later than usual, at around 7am. Customers should check their journey before travelling. 

On Friday 18 August, the ASLEF union announced strike action on Friday 1 September and an overtime ban on Saturday 2 September. The RMT union will also take strike action on Saturday 2 September. Services for these dates will be announced in due course. 

The RMT continue to strike as it accuses train operators of failing to make a new pay offer with improvement to working conditions and job security. 

The ASLEF driver's union is initiating industrial action as it calls for an overtime ban in an ongoing dispute on pay and railway conditions.
