The Mayor of Richmond, Cllr Julia Cambridge, paid a visit to Teddington based charity - The Enterprise - the Richmond branch of the top 100 national charity, United Response on Tuesday afternoon.

The meeting allowed Enterprise Manager Matt Campbell and Team Leader Nora Kerezovic the chance to explain to Cllr Cambridge the vital work the charity does for those in need across the Richmond borough and in Kingston.

United Response provides person-centred support to around 3,000 adults and young people with learning disabilities, mental health needs or physical disabilities across the country.

The Enterprise, located on Field Lane in Teddington, is one of the charity's bases where they have been carrying out their work for over 20 years.

The charity currently works with 70-80 people within Richmond borough, and many of its members choose the Enterprise to utilise United Response's range of services.

Support revolves around strengthening the independence of attendees ranging from housing services, helping to find suitable accommodation for people with challenging behaviour as well as 24/7 sleep support to help ease individuals who are now living on their own with mental or physical health conditions.

These transition services have been crucial to those moving through major life stages, from leaving school and moving from children's to adult's services, to those finding full-time work.

A host of activity groups are also included within the Enterprise's programme including drama, cooking, dancing and karate, which are being particularly well attended.

Participants are regularly offered the chance to compete and work through their karate gradings. FSKA, a local karate club has worked closely with the Enterprise to consistently provide sessions for the charity's members.

During her visit, Cllr Cambridge watched on as Enterprise members took part in an afternoon Karate session (pictured above).
