Richmond Council has met with London & Partners, the capital's official growth agency, to explore fresh opportunities for economic development across the borough.

The meeting, held at York House in Twickenham, brought together Council Leader Gareth Roberts and London & Partners CEO Laura Citron OBE to discuss ways to attract investment, support local high streets, and boost Richmond's visitor economy.

The talks form part of the wider London Growth Plan – a shared vision for strengthening communities and reinforcing London's global competitiveness.

The Council say Richmond is already becoming a hub for innovative, high-value businesses, drawn to the area by its green spaces, strong transport links, and high-quality office accommodation.

Major employers such as eBay and Not On The High Street have set up shop in the borough, encouraged by Richmond's work-life balance and access to skilled talent.

Speaking after the meeting, Councillor Gareth Roberts said: "Richmond upon Thames is a jewel in London's crown – combining natural beauty, strong communities, and a commitment to long-term economic growth.

"Delivering our vision for Richmond Town Centre is a prime example of this. We're creating a modern, accessible destination that celebrates the area's character while fostering growth and supporting the town centre economy."

Work on the Richmond Town Centre improvements, now in its mobilisation phase, aims to deliver better public spaces, enhanced transport connections, and greater support for independent businesses.

Also attending the meeting was Cllr Phil Giesler, Richmond Council's Spokesperson for Business and Economic Growth.

He added: "I was delighted to meet with Laura Citron to discuss how we can continue to support businesses and attract talent, reinforcing Richmond as one of the best places in London to live, work, and visit."
