Richmond borough's population has grown slightly over the past year, according to new estimates published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

The borough of Richmond upon Thames' population, which includes Teddington, increased by 0.31% between mid-2023 and mid-2024.

This brings the total estimated population to 196,678, up from 196,061 the previous year.

This reflects a trend of gradual growth in outer London areas, while some inner London boroughs saw slight declines such as Lambeth and Kensington & Chelsea.

The figures include estimates for all 362 local authorities across the UK, with 342 seeing population increases and 18 seeing population decreases.

The local authority with the largest rise was the City of London, up by 11.06%, while the Isles of Scilly saw the steepest decrease, at -2.75%.

However, these two areas have very small populations, meaning that they have outlying results.
