Bike thefts in Teddington are on the rise, police have warned.

In a post on Twitter, the Teddington Ward Safer Neighbourhood Team said: "Unfortunately since covid restrictions have eased there has been a spate of cycle thefts in Teddington."

Bike theft was the second top crime type reported in Teddington last month, with a total of 6 bikes logged as stolen according to the police website .

Official figures for April, which saw a greater easing of lockdown restrictions than March, will be released next month.

The police's Twitter post also included an appeal to find a missing orange bike (picture above) which was stolen outside Sainsbury's on the high street.

Anyone who sees the bike should DM the Teddington team on their Twitter account or call 101, quoting 0703817/21.

Last week, police released an appeal to identify a man who stole a pupil's bike from racks at Turing House school.

The thief has not yet been found, a spokesperson for police confirmed yesterday.
