Please work together with us to keep everyone safe - police appeal
EASTER MESSAGE FROM POLICE:
Stay Home and Save Lives
It's bank holiday weekend and the weather is due to be warm and sunny
Whilst many of you may be tempted to take advantage of this lovely weather by going to your local park to have a picnic, to sunbathe, to meet up with other friends or family, or to play a group sport, we must remind you that these are not legitimate reasons to leave your home.
You should only leave your home for:
ðŸ›ï¸Shopping for necessities
ðŸƒOne form of exercise a day
Any medical need or to provide care to a vulnerable person
Travelling to and from work when this cannot be done from home
If you do leave the house for one of these reasons, remember to keep a two metre distance (approximately three steps) from anyone outside of your household.
We know it's difficult to adjust to the restrictions, but the priority is to save lives and the best way to protect yourself and others from illness is to stay at home.
For the time being, this is not just a request from us, it is a legal requirement.
Therefore, additional police officers are on duty this weekend to ensure that the Health Protection Legislation is adhered to.
Our job is to keep you safe and uphold the law, so officers will be at your local parks to ensure that social distancing rules are being respected and to disperse groups of two or more people who are not from the same household.
Whilst officers will explain the legislation and encourage people to return home, as a last resort, officers can use enforcement via fines or arrest.
If you do witness groups gathering in public, you can report this to police.
Please work together with us to keep everyone safe and we hope you have a happy weekend.
