Park Lane Stables founder and Teddington resident Natalie O'Rourke said she is "really really humbled" that her charity has been nominated for a national award today (7 September).

The Teddington charity and Riding for the Disabled centre has been shortlisted along with two others for 'Best Health Charity' in the Sun newspaper's annual Who Cares Wins awards.

Natalie told Teddington Nub News: "It's just really really humbling to be recognised and put into the same bracket as those other amazing people.

"I'm thrilled for the volunteers and for everyone that makes it happen.

"People are more widely recognising how amazing the horses are."

She paid tribute to the volunteers who gave their time to the stables over the many years they have been going.

"Thanks to everybody that has believed in us," she added.

The awards, set up to honour carers and health professionals in the UK, will be broadcast on Channel 4 next Thursday 16 September.

Natalie, her daughter Alice, Park Lane Stables volunteer Philippa and local resident Nina who nominated the charity will be attending the ceremony two days earlier, on Tuesday 14.

They will be treated to a special dinner and Natalie is looking forward to having her hair and make-up done, and finding a dress from favourite Teddington charity shop and fashion destination Mary's Living and Giving.
